Marek Ormerod

Marek Ormerod recently graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Major in Geophysics and has commenced his professional journey as a geophysicist at Ocean Floor Geophysics Inc. He is part of the sensors & products group, specializing in the development, testing, and deployment of innovative marine magnetic tools to enhance geophysical data collection and processing for clients.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Marek is passionate about sustainability, diversity in STEM fields, and the latest advancements in biological, physical, and environmental sciences, particularly their connections with policy-making. He enjoys outdoor activities such as gardening, cooking, cycling, rollerblading, snowboarding, and hiking. He values spending time with friends, exploring nature, and engaging in water-related activities.

Marek's educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Geophysics from The University of British Columbia and Senior Grade 12 studies at St. George's School. His professional experience encompasses roles such as Physics Tutor at UBC, Environmental Technician at Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd., Undergraduate Student Research Assistant at UBC Biomedical Research Centre, and Summer Student at Kermode Friendship Society. Additionally, he served as a Peer Support Coordinator at St. George's School.
