Marco Rubin

Marco Rubin is the Senior Investment Director at the Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation (VIPC), where he plays a crucial role in sourcing, conducting due diligence, and closing seed and early-stage investments. He is particularly involved with the GAP Tech Fund and the Commonwealth Energy Fund, managing investments primarily in the energy sector. In addition to his investment responsibilities, he serves as a board representative for several portfolio companies and has been recognized for his contributions to funding energy startups through Virginia Venture Partners.123

Rubin has an extensive background in venture capital, having invested in over 250 early-stage startups throughout his career. He has held leadership positions in various venture capital firms, including Monumental Venture Partners and New Ventures at MCI. His career began as an engineer at NASA's Johnson Space Center, where he trained astronauts and flight controllers.124

He holds an MBA from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Mexico. Additionally, Rubin has been active in mentoring entrepreneurs and has served as a judge in global business plan competitions sponsored by organizations such as the World Bank and the U.S. State Department.124
