Commissioner, Florida Office of Financial Regulation; lawyer; author
Ronald L. Rubin served as the Commissioner of the Florida Office of Financial Regulation (OFR), a position he held after being appointed by the Financial Services Commission in early 2019. His tenure was marked by controversy, as he was suspended and ultimately fired in July 2019 following allegations of sexual harassment made by an employee. Rubin disputed these allegations and later filed a lawsuit against a lobbyist he claimed was involved in a conspiracy to force him out of his position.23
Before his role at the OFR, Rubin had a background in regulatory enforcement, having worked as an attorney with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. His career has included various positions within the financial regulatory landscape, contributing to his expertise in overseeing Florida's financial services industry.14
Following his dismissal, Rubin has continued to pursue legal action against those he believes were responsible for his ouster, including appealing a court decision that rejected his claims against the lobbyist involved.3
