Marcel Bally is a prominent figure in the field of nanomedicine, currently serving as the Theme 1 Leader at the NanoMedicines Innovation Network (NMIN), which is based at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, British Columbia. He is also a Professor of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine and an Adjunct Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at UBC. Additionally, he holds the position of Head & Distinguished Scientist in Experimental Therapeutics at BC Cancer, where he focuses on advancing cancer treatment protocols through innovative drug delivery systems.
Dr. Bally's research primarily revolves around the development of targeted drug delivery systems, particularly using liposome drug carriers to enhance the specificity and efficacy of anticancer therapies. His laboratory investigates both novel targeted anticancer drugs and combinations of existing cytotoxic agents to improve treatment outcomes for cancer patients. He has extensive expertise in biochemistry, pharmacology, and toxicology, and has contributed significantly to the field with over 200 peer-reviewed publications and numerous patents related to lipid-based drug delivery technologies.123
