Maeve Wall

Maeve Wall is a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Doctoral Student at the University of Utah's College of Education, where she has been involved since August 2019. Her research focuses on anti-racist and culturally sustaining pedagogy, particularly examining teachers' roles within the prison industrial complex and the school-to-prison pipeline. She aims to help white teachers understand their identities and adopt anti-racist, social-justice-oriented teaching practices. Additionally, Maeve studies effective methods for teaching anti-racist and multicultural pedagogy to pre-service teachers, especially in predominantly white institutions.1
Her background includes teaching experience in diverse educational settings, including a role as an English Teaching Assistant in South Korea through the Fulbright program. She has also worked as a teacher in various charter schools in New York City. Maeve's commitment to equity in education is reflected in her previous initiatives, such as creating a diversity and inclusion program for elementary students in South Korea.12
Maeve holds a strong academic foundation, having received several awards, including the Fulbright Grant and the Helen G. Scott Award for her critical essay on American literature. She is proficient in English, French, and has basic knowledge of Korean.13
