Madelyn Wils
Past President at Hudson River Park Trust
Madelyn Wils is a seasoned urban development professional with extensive experience in government, real estate, and non-profit sectors. She currently serves as the Interim President of The Fifth Avenue Association, a position she has held since April 2024.1 Prior to this, Wils has been working as a Leadership Advisor at Public Realm Strategies since January 2022, focusing on urban planning, cultural projects, and parks.1
Wils is perhaps best known for her tenure as President of the Hudson River Park Trust from June 2011 to February 2021.12 During her nearly decade-long leadership, she oversaw significant developments in the park, including the creation of Pier 26, Pier 55, and Pier 57.2 She also implemented innovative funding schemes to ensure the park's financial stability.2
Before her role at Hudson River Park Trust, Wils served as Executive Vice President of Planning, Development and Maritime at the New York City Economic Development Corporation from 2007 to 2011.1 In this capacity, she managed major redevelopment projects such as Willets Point, Coney Island, and the East River Esplanade.23
Wils has been a long-time resident of Tribeca since 1985 and has been deeply involved in community development.2 She served on Community Board 1 for 18 years, including a four-year tenure as chair, during which she played a crucial role in the neighborhood's response to the 9/11 attacks.2
