Luis Murillo

Luis Murillo, a Costa Rican national, is a professional in agronomic engineering with a Master's in Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, focusing on agroforestry.
Since 1983, Murillo has been actively engaged in universities as a researcher, lecturer, and extension worker, specializing in interdisciplinary technology transfer, agroforestry extension, and environmental education for managing natural resources locally.
His extensive background enables him to excel in designing, planning, and implementing projects related to sustainable rural development and conservation.
With over eleven years of experience teaching Forestry Extension at the Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica, Murillo is also affiliated with the Centro Científico Tropical.
He has played crucial roles as an instructor and consultant in areas such as agricultural and environmental communication, extensionist training, agroforestry, buffer zone management, diagnostic techniques, social base participation, and project development and evaluation.
Murillo served as a temporary teacher in the Master's programs at the Instituto Internacional en Conservación y manejo de vida silvestre and the ITCR's Master's in Natural Resources and Production Technologies.
Additionally, he has contributed to the Master's program in Rural Development at UNED.
He is a founding member of IDEHS (Iniciativas del Desarrollo Humano Sostenible) and ASOIDHES (Asociación Innovaciones para el desarrollo Humano Sostenible), consulting entities established in Costa Rica and Panama with an international reach.
During 2012-February 2017, he held the position of Regionalization Coordinator and Forestry Extension Professor at ITCR.
Currently, Luis Murillo is a retired professor.
