Lucy W. Reckseit

Lucy Reckseit is a highly experienced legal professional who has been counseling mid-stage and late-stage companies for several years. She is credited with pioneering the 'fractional' or part-time general counsel model back in 1998, a model that is now widely adopted by companies to address their in-house legal needs. Lucy's legal journey began after obtaining her law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where she later clerked for the Honorable Joseph W. Hatchett in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. She gained valuable experience in general corporate and securities practice at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison in Palo Alto before transitioning to a role as Vice President, Legal Affairs at Merit Behavioral Care Corporation. Following the acquisition of Merit Behavioral Care Corporation by Magellan Health Services in 1998, Lucy established her fractional general counsel business model, where she is typically engaged by investors or the company's outside counsel to oversee legal service consumption.
