Liz Lempert is a prominent community leader and former mayor of Princeton, New Jersey. She served as the first mayor of the consolidated Princeton from January 1, 2013, to December 31, 2020, following the merger of the former Princeton Borough and Township.234 During her tenure, she was recognized for her leadership in governmental innovation, environmental sustainability, and bicycle mobility.2
Before her political career, Liz Lempert worked as a journalist for the National Public Radio program "Living On Earth," where she spent ten years as a producer and editor.12 She holds undergraduate degrees in History and Symbolic Systems from Stanford University and a Master's degree in Science Journalism from Boston University.23
After her mayoral term, Liz Lempert continued to be involved in community development and civic engagement. She joined the Isles Board in September 2021 and serves as a Community Partner-in-Residence at Princeton University's Pace Center for Civic Engagement.13 Her work focuses on strengthening campus-community partnerships and developing resources for best practices in areas such as climate resiliency, affordable housing, and public art.3
