Lisa Susswein is an accomplished genetic counselor with extensive clinical and laboratory genetics experience. Her career has spanned from academic centers to private industry, and she has cultivated expertise in variant classification, clinical report writing, data management, teaching, and remote customer support.
She holds a BA in Physics from Wellesley College as well as an MS in Genetic Counseling from Brandeis University and an MHA in Health Policy and Management from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her diverse background also includes former roles as a laboratory technician, research assistant, and study coordinator in psychiatric genetics programs at institutions like Harvard University and Massachusetts General Hospital.
Currently, Lisa serves as Lead Genetic Counselor at GeneDx, where she leads teams in interpreting next-generation sequencing results and crafting provider-friendly genetic testing reports. Her previous roles include serving as a Genetic Counselor at Courtagen Life Sciences, Inc. and Transgenomic, as well as a Genetic Counseling Liaison and Program Manager at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Lisa has a talent for breaking down complex ideas for varied audiences and offering detailed phone consultations to patients and providers. She is passionate about using her skills to educate others and provide clinical support.
