Lee Melissa is a highly qualified Mathematics teacher with a passion for instilling the notion that "mathematics is everywhere". She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Queens College and a Master's Degree in Mathematics Teacher Education, 7-12, from the prestigious Teachers College of Columbia University.
With over a decade of experience in education under her belt, Lee has worked in various organizations and institutions of learning in the past. She has been a Mathematics Teacher at the NYC Department of Education, a Teacher Fellow at Math for America, Adjunct CLT for Calculus I and III at Borough of Manhattan Community College, Student Teacher at Townsend Harris High School, and Mathematics Tutor at Borough of Manhattan Community College, among others.
During her time as a college Mathematics tutor, Lee gained an array of instructional strategies useful to assist students to understand new mathematical concepts by relating them to real-life experiences. Her goal in teaching Mathematics is to prepare her students to be critical thinkers and to apply these acquired skills when required in their daily life. Also, Lee aims to provide the necessary strategies and skills to further equip her students to meet the demands of the 21st century.
An ardent Mathematics facilitator, Lee has volunteered at various institutions such as the Museum of Mathematics and the I.S. 227Q - The Louis Armstrong Middle School as a Mathematics Tutor. She has also served as a Mathematics Facilitator and Tutor at Queens College and Chemistry Tutor at The Queens School of Inquiry.
