Her areas of self-studied expertise include basic biological sciences, clinical medicine, anatomy, digital and analog electronic circuits, robotics, and virtual and augmented reality, among others.

Specializing in full-stack 3D graphics, virtual and augmented reality, holography, and robotics, Layla excels in architecture, hardware, software, optimization, compiler design, and language expertise while also being an effective communicator and skilled public speaker.

She pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science, a B.S. in Computer Science, Psychology, and Philosophy at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and engaged in studies in Chinese language, landscape painting, and calligraphy at East China Normal University.

In her career, Layla Mah has held various roles, including Founder & CEO of InsightfulVR, Lead Architect - VR & Advanced Rendering at AMD, and Senior Member of Technical Staff at AMD, showcasing her expertise in virtual reality, graphics, and technology.

Her professional journey includes experiences as a Developer Technology Engineer, Senior Software Engineer, Graphics & Performance Optimization Consultant, and Small Team Lead & Senior Programmer, demonstrating her proficiency in software development and engineering across different domains.
