Lavonna Lewis
Teaching Professor of Public Policy at University of Southern California Sol Price School of Public Policy
Dr. Lavonna Lewis is a dedicated professional with a strong focus on cultural competency and health equity, particularly for underrepresented groups. Her mission is to raise awareness on issues affecting marginalized communities and challenge individuals to step out of their comfort zones for personal growth and learning.
With an educational background that includes a Ph.D. in Political Science and Public Policy from Rice University, an M.P.H. in Health Administration from the University of Oklahoma School of Public Health, and a B.S. in Biology from Oklahoma State University, Dr. Lewis brings a diverse skill set and knowledge base to her work.
Currently serving as the Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the University of Southern California, Dr. Lewis has held various roles within the institution, such as Diversity Liaison, Teaching Professor, Principal Investigator, and Director of Undergraduate Programs at the Sol Price School of Public Policy.
Her professional journey also includes experience as a Lecturer at Sierra Health Leadership, Consultant at Clearview 360, Faculty Advisor at the Enrichment Program, and Assistant Professor at USC. Dr. Lewis has been actively involved in promoting authentic voices and facilitating meaningful dialogues to drive personal and collective transformation.
She has also contributed to the field as a former member of the Standards Council at CAHME and as the Director of the Masters in Health Administration Program and Clinical at USC. Dr. Lavonna Lewis is passionate about preparing individuals for challenging conversations that are essential for societal progress and change.
