Larry Laird is an experienced educator with a career spanning over three decades in California Public Schools. He started as a middle school teacher for 17 years and progressed to various administrative roles including high school administrator, middle school assistant principal, and principalship.
After retirement, Larry transitioned to a new role as the Maui Site Coordinator for the non-profit Read Aloud America, later advancing to Assistant Program Director for Neighbor Islands. His extensive background in education and leadership positions has equipped him with a well-rounded skill set and a passion for promoting literacy and education.
Larry pursued his education with a Master's in Education Administration from Azusa Pacific University and a Bachelor's in Social Science with a focus on History and Library Science from San Diego State University.
His involvement in various organizations such as Read Aloud America and Rotary International, along with his former roles as Director of Human Resources at San Jose Unified School District and leadership positions in the education sector, showcases his commitment to community engagement and professional development.
