Kun Fan

Kun Fan is an accomplished Associate Professor at UNSW Law and a distinguished Member of the Herbert Smith Freehills China International Business and Economic Law (CIBEL) Centre, with a robust background in academia and ADR practice.

Before joining UNSW, Kun Fan held the position of Associate Professor at McGill University's Faculty of Law, where she earned recognition as the Norton Rose Fulbright Faculty Scholar in Arbitration & Commercial Law in 2017. She has also contributed significantly to legal education during her tenure at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and as a Visiting Scholar at the Harvard Yenching Institute.

Professor Fan has a stellar track record of leading research projects and securing grants, alongside receiving multiple awards for her academic excellence. She is the esteemed author of 'Arbitration in China: A Legal and Cultural Analysis' and has published extensively in premier international journals, addressing various cutting-edge legal issues.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Kun Fan is well-versed in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), having served as counsel, legal expert, secretary for arbitration tribunals, arbitrator, and domain names panelist in numerous international arbitrations and domain name disputes. Notable is her oversight of over one hundred arbitrations under the ICC International Court of Arbitration during her tenure as Deputy Counsel.

Kun Fan's professional affiliations underscore her expertise and commitment to ADR, as she is a member of the New York Bar, the Institute of Transnational Arbitration Academic Council, the International Task Force on Mixed Mode Dispute Resolution, and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She is also a Domain Names Panelist for esteemed institutions like the Hong Kong International Arbitration Center (HKIAC) and the Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre (ADNDRC). Moreover, she serves as an Accredited Mediator with the Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited and an Arbitrator at various Chinese arbitration institutions.
