Uptake Labs - I was responsible for the identification and incubation of new products and growth concepts. I wrote the playbook for innovation at Uptake and worked cross-functionally to ensure adoption and maximized ROI. I successfully incubated and graduated a new entry-level product to strategically open an upsell path into one of our enterprise SaaS products.

Product Operations - I defined the product strategy, process, and metrics that helped Uptake evolve from an industry-specific services/solutions to a product-led company. Up front, I was responsible for defining and naming our products, the corresponding SKUs, and subsequent content to create the sales enablement materials. Once in motion, I drove the product and technology sprinting activity starting with the metrics all the way through a bi-weekly 200+ person all-company meeting. During a period of transition within the company, I was asked by the CEO to join the Senior Leadership Team as the interim Head of Product.

Solutions (Manufacturing) - I led a multi-plant predictive analytics pilot in the automotive manufacturing space with General Motors. I organized and led a cross-functional team of data scientists, engineers, and program and account managers to successfully deliver Uptake's products and industrial AI in the automotive stamping operations. As a product leader, most of my time was spent with my users which ranged from plant maintenance and operations to corporate manufacturing engineering. I'm proud to say that as a result of our work, General Motors won a global manufacturing innovation award for its use of artificial intelligence in its stamping operations.

I was recruited to join Uptake by the founder and CEO, Brad Keywell. My mission was to drive innovation and explore product capabilities through customer development, prototyping, and rapid iteration. With a team of two to 15, depending on the project, we identified and built concepts incorporating streaming telematics data, computer vision, voice interfaces, augmented and virtual reality, simulation engines, machine learning, and data science. I was proud to see so many of the lessons learned and our product development work graduate and be adopted into Uptake's core products.

Director, Product Strategy - R&D and Innovation

I joined the company as the first executive hire taking responsibility for all product, technology, growth, supply chain, and the day to day operations of the business. Our team included 15 employees and dozens of stay-at-home mom stylists to serve our customers.

Through my leadership, product management, and growth marketing, monthly revenue grew 8000% (well over six-figures) over the next eight months. During this time, I also coordinated the move and operations of a new warehouse and office space to support the company's growth.

As a venture funded startup with high capital requirements to fuel future inventory, Mac & Mia was unable to secure ongoing financing and eventually shut down operations.

I was recruited for the CEO role by the lead investor and the CEO of a publicly traded food delivery company. Our goal was to re-imagine an offline public relations business for restaurants through a technology-first lens.

I defined and led the built out of an industry-leading native iOS and web application from the ground up with a team of seven and $1M seed funding. While successful in our product metrics including user engagement and content creation by James Beard winning chefs, Morsel struggled as a business and never found product market fit.

In February 2015, I made the difficult decision to shut the company down and returned the remaining funds to investors.

I joined Betterfly via acquisition and assumed the role of CTO and Head of Product during a pivotal transformation of the business.

The marketplace connected millions of consumers with personal service providers, i.e. guitar teachers, life coaches, and Spanish tutors, and my mission was to move as many of those interactions from an offline to an online experience. With a team of 20, I defined and led the built out of a bleeding edge, in-browser video chat product from the ground up. I also led the testing of new features to increase the stickiness of our teaching platform for both the supply and demand side.

The product we built attracted immediate attention in the market. I co-led the inbound corporate development activity from multiple interested parties and we agreed to an acquisition of the business in under one year.

Our acquirer, TakeLessons, was subsequently acquired by Microsoft.

I was recruited to join Lightbank, a $200M early stage venture capital fund, as their first Entrepreneur in Residence. I led the creation of the internal venture studio where I was responsible for identifying, building, and testing new business ideas from the ground up. In addition, I advised existing portfolio companies on Product, Growth, and Technology while also sourcing new investments from the larger Midwest startup community.

One of the ideas I incubated at Lightbank was funded by the firm and I left to run that business (DealsGoRound) as the CEO.

DealsGoRound was the world's first secondary market for the multi-billion dollar daily deal industry including Groupon, LivingSocial, and Google Offers. The business was incubated in the venture studio of Lighbank and eventually capitalized through multiple rounds of venture capital funding.

As the sole founder and CEO, I led a team of 10 while defining and managing the build out of native iOS, Android, and web applications. The products powered a two-sided marketplace supporting hundreds of thousands of consumers around the world.

In August 2012, DealsGoRound expanded the service offering into gift card and coupons and re-branded as MyCabbage.com.

In December 2012, I handled the inbound conversations and agreements to be acquired by another consumer marketplace (Betterfly), where I assumed the role of CTO and Head of Product.

As a technical analyst, I led cross-functional teams through the release process for our Item Management and Data Driver applications. I stepped up and organically assumed the responsibility of managing the level four support process for all customer and internal issues related to our products. I translated business requirements into technical specifications for new software enhancements and led custom reporting requirements to support everyone from sales through C-level executives. I led the coordination of our GDSN datapool certification efforts and co-chaired the employee activity committee for the Chicago office.

My first job out of college was as a technology consultant in the Logistics and Distribution practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers, later acquired by IBM.  My projects were heavily focused on warehouse and transportation management systems integration and implementation for Fortune 100 clients including Kmart, ConAgra Foods, and Big Lots. My responsibilities ranged from writing custom SQL reports to end user training. I also earned more frequent flier miles and hotel points than most people do in a lifetime. My primary system experience included EXE WMS and YMS, SAP WM, and Manugistics TMS.
