Kim Alexander
Educator of our Nation's Youth
Kim Alexander is a dedicated individual working with the literacy initiative in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she teaches READ 180. As a 2008 Teach For America Corps member, Kim is committed to the organization's purpose and mission, seeing plenty of opportunities for improvement in the education system. She finds her current role immensely rewarding and engaging. Kim's aspiration is to initiate her own school or non-profit to assist the homeless and underprivileged communities, emphasizing the importance of educating and ensuring safety for children who are the future's architects. She envisions providing equal opportunities to all individuals to pursue their dreams within the next 8-10 years, with a goal to establish her organization across major cities. Kim is actively looking for like-minded partners who share her passion for supporting the homeless, the needy, and the future generations. Her professional skills include expertise in fundraising databases, grant and proposal writing, and building compelling cases for support. Kim holds a Master's in Youth Counseling from Western Seminary and has studied at the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee. She has previously served as a Middle School Reading Teacher at Teach For America, Southeast Middle School, and as the Director of Special Projects at J.F. Smith Group, Inc.
