Kien Truong

Kien Truong is a member of the Portland Community College Board of Directors in Oregon, representing Zone 3. He assumed office on July 1, 2023 and his current term ends on June 30, 2027.1

Truong was elected to the PCC Board in 2023, becoming the first openly LGBTQ+ and second Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) person to hold such a position.4 During his tenure, he has advocated for holistic policies that tackle barriers students face, such as food and housing insecurity, lack of transportation access, and rising costs of textbooks and childcare.4

• Studying Global Justice and Human Rights at Drexel University with aspirations of becoming a community college president3
