Kenya Wiley

Kenya Wiley is a distinguished fashion law professor and policy counsel with a strong emphasis on innovation, inclusion, and sustainability within the fashion and retail industries.

Currently affiliated with Georgetown University, Kenya's expertise has been recognized by various government agencies and prestigious institutions such as the U.S. Department of Commerce, Parsons School of Design, and the MIT Media Lab.

Throughout her extensive career, Kenya has contributed significantly to the fields of fashion law, government policy, and social justice, with notable publications in renowned outlets like The Washington Post, WWD, CNN, and ELLE.

With over a decade of experience in fashion law, Kenya's journey began as a Senate counsel involved in the development of legislation pertinent to the fashion and retail sectors, subsequently advising numerous brands and retailers on legal, technological, and sustainability matters.

During her tenure at the Motion Picture Association (MPA), Kenya offered counsel on intellectual property, tech policy, political law, as well as spearheading initiatives on privacy and data security. Her efforts at MPA included creating the association's first academic outreach program aimed at colleges and law schools.

Kenya's remarkable contributions have been acknowledged with accolades such as being listed as one of WWD's Women Leaders in Business in 2017 and receiving the Intelligent Design Award from Howard Law School for her exceptional work in fashion law and policy.

Furthermore, Kenya chaired ASTM's pioneering Task Group focused on Data Security for Smart Textiles, highlighting her leadership in advancing security measures within the industry.

Kenya Wiley holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a concentration in Health and Development from Stanford University, complemented by a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Georgetown University Law Center.

Her professional experience includes founding and serving as Policy Counsel at FLSJ and the Fashion Innovation Alliance, along with roles as an Adjunct Professor at Fordham University School of Law and Georgetown University. She has also held positions as Principal at Ripe Strategic Affairs, Director at the MPA Legal Department, Counsel and Senior Policy Advisor at the United States Senate, and Manager of Regulatory and Judicial Affairs at SHRM.
