Katharine Jarmul
Katharine Jarmul is a data science expert, educator, and advocate for ethical and secure machine learning. With a passion for automating data workflows and building distributed data setups, she has a wealth of experience and opinions on data security and privacy. Jarmul is currently Product Lead for Data Science at Cape Privacy, where she is building the next generation of data security solutions for machine learning and data science. She is also an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Florida, where she teaches data mining and programming in the Audience Analytics Program. Jarmul co-authored O'Reilly's Data Wrangling with Python and has held leadership roles at several technology companies, including Director of Technology at HYFN and Vice President of Technology at Pop-Up Pantry. She also founded kjamistan and co-founded KIProtect, and has worked as a journalist and literacy instructor. Interested in data ethics, security and privacy in a "big data" machine learning world, Jarmul is focused on creating real-world production systems that prioritize ethical decision-making and data safety.
