Karen Paczkowski is a highly skilled and driven individual with an extensive background in STEM research and policy. She has a Doctorate in Geology and Geophysics from Yale University, as well as a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Magna Cum Laude, from Boston University.

Karen has specialized in energy, climate, and STEM policy on a global, national, northeastern, and Massachusetts level. She has worked with various organizations, including the National Science Foundation, the Geological Society of America, and the Office of U.S. Senator Edward J. Markey. She is a former AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow and AAAS Congressional Science and Technology Policy Fellow sponsored by GSA/USGS.

Karen has also held various engineering positions, including Aero/Thermo Systems Analysis Engineer at UTC Aerospace Systems and R&D Engineering Intern at Exa Corporation. She is a proven effective communicator and has led communications exercises to train scientists to speak with policymakers and the general public about their science. Karen has received numerous honors and awards for her work, including being a finalist for the Presidential Management Fellowship STEM program and the Department of Defense's National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship.

Karen's skills and specialties include energy and climate policy, industry design and analysis, critical thinking, analytic problem solving, and strategic planning. She is an excellent communicator and has experience in government affairs, public speaking, and meeting one-on-one with policymakers, scientists, stakeholders, end-users, and constituents. Karen is always seeking new challenges and is comfortable learning new topics outside her area of expertise.
