    Julie Chang is a bioengineering researcher and clinical scientist who completed her PhD at Stanford University. She worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Stanford from May 2017 to March 2022, where she studied basement membrane collective cell invasion in a 3D in vitro model of breast cancer.1 During her time at Stanford, Julie also mentored undergraduate and PhD students, served as a teaching assistant for graduate courses, and worked as a graduate writing tutor.1

    After completing her PhD, Julie transitioned to a career in the pharmaceutical industry. She joined Genentech as a Clinical Scientist in April 2022 and was promoted to Lead Clinical Scientist in May 2023.1 In her current role, she supports the development of early-stage oncology clinical trials.1

    Julie's academic achievements include receiving prestigious fellowships such as the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship (2018-2021) and the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship (2016-2018).1 She also completed internships at Genentech and A*STAR during her academic career.1

    In addition to her research work, Julie has demonstrated leadership skills through her participation in the Accel Leadership Program at Stanford, which focused on preparing students to lead entrepreneurial ventures.1
