Julia Baritz

Julia Baritz is the Founder and Lead Architect of Pillowfort Blogging LLC, a social media and blogging platform that she established in 2016. The platform, initially known as Pillowfort.io, was designed to provide a user-friendly space for creativity, communication, and content sharing, particularly catering to fandoms and adult content creators. It combines features from various platforms like Tumblr, Twitter, and LiveJournal, allowing users to create posts, comment, and form communities.12

Baritz began promoting Pillowfort in 2015 alongside a business partner through Tumblr and successfully launched an Indiegogo campaign that raised over $5,000 to kickstart the project. Following this, she conducted a Kickstarter campaign in 2018 that raised approximately $60,000, which helped transition Pillowfort from a beta phase to a fully operational site.12

In her role as Lead Architect, Baritz has emphasized a user-funded model for Pillowfort, aiming to keep the platform free from external financial pressures. This approach allows for greater flexibility in content policies compared to other platforms that have imposed stricter regulations on adult content.12 As of late 2023, Pillowfort had over 180,400 registered users and continues to evolve with ongoing development efforts.1
