Scout Executive/Chief Executive Officer

Provide Consultant services globally with organizations on company-wide challenges and offer best practices and deliver first rate and timely deliverables in a proven, professional, principled and passionate manner. Accomplishments include:

•	Event Leadership:  Served as Interim Executive Director of Apartment Association of North Carolina for six months and recruited as Executive Director to guide and strengthen AANC's position in serving the legislative, educational and information needs of its members. 
•	Event Management:  Supervised and managed 62 International Staff Team members from 25 countries for a two week long quadrennial event with an attendance of 35,000 guests. Created daily assignments addressing Special Guest VIP tours, professional receptions, VIP registration and Special Guests Welcome Center for international attendees.
•	Organizational Development and Logistics Management:  Conduct boards of director orientations and facilitate and advise on long-range strategic planning and conduct training sessions for company leadership. Supervised logistics, inventory and resources for 37 person adult training course. Planned for the in-processing, out-processing and well-being of 250 internationals from 20 countries.
•	Leadership Training:  Developed and presented leadership training seminars on Stages of Team Development, the EDGE training and leadership model and Generational differences in organizations, focusing on member engagement, recruitment and retention. 
•	Fundraising:  Organized and planned World Friendship Fund collection resulting in one day contributions of $25,000.

World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM)

Safe from Harm Compliance Mechanism Build, Pilot and Implementation Project Co-Lead

Appointed by the Secretary General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and Chairperson of the World Scout Committee as Co-Lead of the Membership and Volunteer Retention & Recruitment Project as part of the Good Governance Workstream. Responsibilities included:

•	Oversaw a global team of 12 professionals and volunteers representing five continents and 11 countries.
•	Utilized the intense and time consuming agile project management method and implemented Six Epics and 16 User Stories focusing on worldwide membership retention and recruitment. Exceeded our project goals with a completion rate of 150%.
•	Ensured timely achievement of the project’s goals adopted by WOSM to implement the Growing Stronger Together – WOSM’s Plan for 2020-2021.
•	Exchanged information regularly with leaders of other bodies established within the Operational Framework.
•	Reported regularly to the work stream on progress of the project’s activities.

Worldwide Membership and Volunteer Retention & Recruitment Team Co-Lead

Appointed in 2019 to serve as Council International Representative for Transatlantic Council which delivers Unparalleled Scouting in over 50 countries in Europe, Africa, Middle East and Central Asia. Responsibilities include:

• Serve as chair of the TAC International Committee consisting of 10 members.
• Establish a communications and organizational plan to keep council membership informed of the opportunities for program enrichment in the area of international Scouting.
• Conduct and lead quarterly TAC International Committee meetings which includes agenda formation, composing minutes and securing guest speakers which previously included representatives from the World Organization of the Scout Movement, Europe Region and Kandersteg International Scout Centre.
• Approve applications for International Awards including the International Scouter's Award and International Spirit Award.
• Work with committee members on creating and updating TAC Historical Trails; promoting the annual Peace Light and other International Scouting events and projects.

Council International Representative

Recruited after providing management consulting and serving as Interim Executive Director. Drive strategic initiatives to improve association's effectiveness in membership, advocacy and finances. Accomplishments include:

•	Financial Acumen: Secured unbudgeted revenue amount of $76,000 in ERTC monies in 2022. Received grant and loan forgiveness totaling $125,000 in 2021. Exceeded 2020 budget by $117,000. Reached over $30,000 in PAC contributions for first time ever in 2022.  
•	Governance and Organization Leadership: Developed association policies & procedures manual and employee manual. Streamlined board meetings. Conducted annual board orientations.
•	Event Planning: Conducted successful annual AANC Education and Legislative Conferences delivering marked increase in income, education sessions, sponsorships and attendees.

Apartment Association of North Carolina

Executive Director

Appointed by the Secretary General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and Chairperson of the World Scout Committee as Volunteer Lead of the National Scout Organization's (NSO) Strategic Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (SPME) - Impact Assessment Unit, part of the Good Governance Work Stream. Responsibilities include:

•	Operational Planning: Supported and helped implement the 2017-2020 Triennial Plan.
•	Resource Development: Created and wrote a strategic planning facilitator's guide and participant workbook. Reviewed, revised and finalized the SPME Toolkit and identified other resources needed for improving WOSM Consultant Training and strategic plan implementation.
•	Organizational Effectiveness: Strengthened support to NSOs in Strategic Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation - Impact Assessment.
•	Impact and Measurement: Measured the impact of Scouting and used the information for continuous improvement.

Volunteer Lead, Strategic Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation - Impact Assessment Unit

Served as Assistand Course Director for weeklong adult leadership training course which included 50 leaders from more than five countries.
•	Provided effective and critical communication to participants and ensured course records and financial obligations were met and submitted on time by 50 adult leaders in preparation for, during, and following a weeklong leadership training course. 
•	Managed World Friendship Fund Fundraising campaign and ensured funds were properly collected, accounted for, and submitted. 
•	Presented leadership training on Generations and provided valuable tools on how to engage, recruit and retain members. 
•	Created daily professional newsletter to course staff and participants and served as Editor-in-Chief. 
•	Provided critical evaluations, and updates to staff and participants at daily meetings. 
•	Organized newsletter article assignments from each participant and staff group and ensured submission by established deadlines.

Assistant Course Director

Transitioned from Director of Membership and Affiliate Services having successfully managed department operations and 5 staff servicing 69,000 members representing 170 affiliated associations. Provided affiliate resources to support, sustained and increased membership. Drove national strategy to build a stronger network of affiliated apartment associations nationwide. Activities included:

•	Affiliate Relations and Leadership Development:  Conducted 40+ strategic planning sessions, leadership development programs, 20+ board of director orientations and implemented strategies for member prospecting.
•	Volunteer Leadership and Management Consultant:  Served as staff liaison to and supported the Independent Rental Owners Committee. Served as management expert to affiliated associations and consulted on membership growth and retention, management operations and governance.
•	Affiliate Chartering:  Led successful NAA affiliation of West Virginia Apartment Association including planning monthly conference calls, board development, bylaws creation and organizing the first-ever general membership meeting.

East Region Director, Chief Association Management Facilitator

Chaired the 2012 International Representatives Conference, consisting of 37 participants and 11 faculty and staff, whose main focus was to promote and further understand International Scouting and ensure their local international committees are stronger and more successful in the future.

Chair, International Representatives Conference

Reappointed to a third three year term, 2018-2020, at the Interamerican Scout Committee meeting in Cusco, Peru. Reappointed to a second three year term, 2015-2017, at the Interamerican Scout Committee meeting in Panama. Appointed to a three year term, 2012-2014, as Trustee of the Interamerican Scout Foundation at the 2011 Interamerican Scout Committee meeting in Trinidad and Tobago. Serve as Foundation's 1st Vice President 2018-2020.

The Interamerican Scout Conference created the Interamerican Scout Fund in 1980 to establish a long-term capital base to support Scouting in the Americas. In 1994, the fund was converted into a separate legal entity as the Interamerican Scout Foundation, a nonprofit U.S. (Texas) corporation. The foundation's primary purpose is to support the Scouting movement in the Americas so that a greater number of young people may benefit from the Scouting program.

Led and developed the Foundation's Strategic Plan in 2017. Currently serve as the plan champion.

Trustee and 1st Vice Chair

Boy Scouts of America, Sam Houston Area Council

Transatlantic Council serves over 8,000 young people active in various levels of Boy Scouts of America while living overseas in 30 different countries. Transatlantic Council has been serving scouts and scouters throughout Europe for over 60 years, and is a traditional scouting council serving Americans while they are serving overseas in various capacities.
• Delivered the Invocation at the TAC Normandy Camporee's Closing Ceremony at the Normandy American Cemetery with more than 2,000 Scouts and Scouters from different countries in attendance. 
• During the April 2022 TAC Normandy Camporee, laid a wreath on behalf of World Scouting at the La Cambe German War Cemetery.
• Facilitated Board of Directors and Committee Orientations during the TAC Scouter's Annual Conference in Brussels, Belgium in October 2021. 
• Served on TAC's Governance Committee since 2020.

Executive Board Member

Directed company operations of the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) consistent with the GHBA mission, strategic plan, policies and procedures. Responsibilities included:

• Financial Management:  Reviewed disbursements and served as a signatory on accounts and other legal documents and identified and evaluated non-dues revenue sources and affinity programs
• Human Resources and Program Management:  Managed 12 professional employees and evaluated TEAM and association/program needs to best serve members. Revised Personnel Manual.
• Board Management:  Facilitated communications with Board, state and national Directors. Planned and organized material for leadership training and Board of Director meetings for board members and staff.

Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA)

Chief Operating Officer

Led SCORE’s efforts to significantly grow the number of clients that utilized SCORE services and created and oversaw implementation of SCORE’s new field structure. Responsibilities included:

•	Volunteer Management:  Managed 69 District Directors and 370 Chapter Chairs to ensure expansion plans were implemented and yielded significant performance gains. Served as primary contact for volunteer leaders.
•	Human Resources:  Supervised five staff, two field based component association management consultants, recruitment and HR director and volunteer and client services professionals.
•	Performance Measurement:  Monitored and reported on critical market performance. Evaluated and recommend methods to enhance volunteer performance and quality.

SCORE Association

Director of Field Operations

Directed NAHB operations and oversaw the national council encompassing 17,000 members from 100+ local Sales & Marketing councils. Successes included:

•	Communications and Marketing: Managed communications strategies of the council including e-newsletters, Web site content, on-line directories, public relations efforts and marketing communications.
•	Council Education: Expanded and improved council education initiatives, including hundreds of education programs and multiple professional designations. 
•	Human Resources and Budget Management: Supervised six professional staff and managed budget resources of $1 million of the council and its Institute of Residential Marketing. Supported volunteer leadership and Board of Trustees by providing tactical initiatives and executing members’ directives.

NAHB

Directed the improvement of operations and fostered relations with over 800 affiliated associations with a combined membership of 235,000 members. Results included:

•	Component Relations: As an internal association management consultant, assisted affiliated associations in their operations through government relations audits, leadership development programs and strategic planning. 
•	Management Evaluations: Conducted association management evaluations of organization’s structure, government affairs and membership programs, financial status and staff structure.
•	Leadership Development: Presented leadership training seminars on a variety of management issues. Designed, developed and presented programs on Time Management for Busy Professionals, Managing and Recognizing Volunteers, Jumpstarting Your Meetings and The New HR:  Recruiting & Retaining Quality Employees.

Promoted from Regional Field Representative to oversee a department responsible for strengthening relations with 29,000 members from 120 affiliated associations in a 12 state region. Achievements included:

•	Strategic Partnerships: Facilitated and consulted on long-range strategic planning sessions for leadership of member associations.
•	Human Resources and Budget Management: Managed a department staff of one component/association management professional and a budget of $70,000.
•	Leadership Programming: Delivered customized presentations on a variety of management issues including Running Effective Meetings, Lessons of Leadership, The Art of Networking and Maintaining a Healthy Association.

Director, Regional Field Operations

Responsible for services to more than 27,000 members from 120 local and state associations in eight states. Activities included:

•	Business Development: Marketed and promoted department and NAHB products and services and improved affiliate relationships with the national organization.
•	Leadership Development: Provided ongoing leadership support to the National Board of Directors comprised of 2,500 members and Presidents’ Council, comprised of 800 local and state presidents.

Representative, Regional Field Operations

Promoted from Project Assistant to coordinate and assist in production of final reports for panel studies. Recipient of 1999 Commission Staff award for outstanding service. Achievements included:

•	Committee Organization and Research: Researched background material for meetings, correspondences and other projects; summarized meetings and synthesized summaries; and facilitated and assisted manuscript production, editing, peer review, publication and dissemination. Served as liaison for committee and panel members, staff, government sponsors and the public. 
•	Project Development: Projects included the Panel to Study the Research Program of the Economic Research Services and Panel on Integrated Environmental and Economic Accounting.

National Academy of Sciences

Senior Project Assistant

Charged with assisting, training and communicating with Disaster Assistance Employees assigned to the Public Affairs cadre. Activities included:

•	Management Response and Human Resources: Managed the Joint Information Center’s Public Affairs section during response to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, DC. Developed cadre readiness notification system for DAEs. Coordinated training and recruiting of DAEs and deployed to hurricane and tornado-stricken areas. 
•	Public Affairs: Qualified to serve at Joint Information Centers in research and writing, media relations, field public affairs, multilingual operations and liaison operations public affairs positions.
