Josh Bookin is the Director of Instructional Support and Development at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE), where he is a key figure in the Teaching and Learning Lab (TLL). His primary focus is on promoting equitable and effective instruction by assisting faculty and teaching fellows in addressing their educational challenges. He facilitates various learning opportunities, including one-on-one consultations, workshops, and professional learning communities (PLCs) aimed at enhancing teaching practices.12
In addition to his role at HGSE, Bookin serves as a Co-Chair for the Anti-Racist Teaching and Advising (ARTA) Initiative, where he leads efforts to foster inclusive teaching environments. His previous experience includes serving as the Assistant Director of Curriculum and Pedagogy at the Harvard Kennedy School, where he developed training programs for teaching fellows and contributed to curriculum redesign initiatives.12
Bookin has over 15 years of experience in higher education, having previously worked as the Manager of Instructional Design at Tufts Medical Center. There, he directed NIH-funded programs for health researchers and played a significant role in developing innovative educational platforms.1 He holds an Ed.M. from HGSE and has a diverse background that includes teaching, curriculum development, and educational consulting across various settings.12
His academic journey began with a focus on biomedical science, which later transitioned into educational leadership. He has also taught instructional methods to pre-service educators at Boston University.1
