Iris Hammel is the Co-founder and Executive Director of RISE (Regional Innovation & Startup Education), an organization dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in education. With over 15 years of experience in both business and education, she has a strong background in developing entrepreneurial programs aimed at K-14 students, emphasizing hands-on learning and community collaboration.
Hammel's career began as a business education teacher after earning her teaching certification from Viterbo University in Wisconsin. She has also co-founded Connected Classrooms, which includes the creation of TeachMe3D.org, a training tool for 3D modeling tailored for educational settings. Her leadership at RISE focuses on connecting individuals with resources and ideas to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs, aiming to make a significant impact within the community.145
In addition to her role at RISE, Hammel has served in various capacities, including Senior Vice President at the Garatoni-Smith Family Foundation and as a Program Director for St. Joe CEO, which prepares youth for entrepreneurial thinking and economic development.23 Her work has been recognized through various honors, including being named a Community Champion by Elevate Ventures.2
