Jon Zuegel

Jonathan D. Zuegel is a distinguished scientist at the University of Rochester, where he serves as the Laser and Materials Technology Division Director at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE). He is also a professor of optics at the university.123 Dr. Zuegel's research interests focus on solid-state lasers, nonlinear optics, electro-optics, and laser diagnostics. His work supports advanced laser systems for applications in laser fusion and high-field physics, particularly with the OMEGA and OMEGA EP lasers at LLE.1

Dr. Zuegel is involved in significant research projects, such as the development of the EP-OPAL laser facility, which aims to create one of the highest-power laser systems in the world. This project is backed by the National Science Foundation and involves collaboration with multiple universities.2
