Jon Elliott

Jon Elliott is a seasoned professional with extensive experience at the science/policy intersection in Whitehall and Industry.

He holds a degree in Marine Biology from Aberdeen University and has held various key roles in different organizations.

Currently, Jon serves as the Director of Global Government Affairs and Policy Strategy at AstraZeneca, bringing his wealth of experience to drive strategic initiatives.

Prior to his current role, he was the Associate Director for UK Science Policy and Relations at AstraZeneca, showcasing his expertise in navigating complex science policy landscapes.

Jon's career includes significant positions such as Head of Science and Technology at the Office for Product Safety and Standards at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and Assistant Director at BEIS.

He has also contributed his knowledge and skills as a Senior Strategy Adviser at the Department of Health and Social Care and Head of Science Advice and Leadership at the Government Office for Science.

His diverse experience spans roles in various governmental departments, including Senior science and policy advisor at the UK Climate Change Risk Assessment at the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and Higher Scientific Officer at the Department of Energy and Climate Change.

Jon Elliott's expertise extends beyond government agencies, having previously worked as an Exposure Assessment Scientist at the Food Standards Agency and a Radiological Risk Assessment Scientist at CEFAS.

In addition to his scientific background, Jon has also engaged in cultural exchange as an Assistant Language Teacher through the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme (JET), demonstrating his versatility and global perspective.
