John Gilmore

John Gilmore is a second-year law student at Washington & Lee University School of Law, currently serving as a Legal Extern at Augusta Health in Waynesboro, Virginia. He began this role in January 2024. Prior to his externship, he gained experience as a summer associate at GreeneHurlocker, where he worked on various legal documents and regulatory guidance related to healthcare and renewable energy.12
Gilmore graduated from Dartmouth College in 2017 with a degree in English, focusing on Creative Writing. He spent four years as a journalist at GenomeWeb, covering topics in genomics, which sparked his interest in law, particularly in the biotech and healthcare sectors. His legal experience also includes an internship at the Chautauqua County District Attorney's Office, where he handled legal issues related to healthcare fraud and other criminal matters.12
In addition to his externship, he is actively involved in law school activities, serving as the Outlaw Co-President and as the Lead Articles Editor for the Washington and Lee Law Review, where he is drafting a forthcoming student note on laboratory-developed tests and their regulatory challenges.1
