Joel Alcocer

Joel Alcocer serves as the Manager of the Jobs for Peace and Resilience Training Programme (JPR) at the International Training Centre of the ILO (ITCILO). He is tasked with enhancing the capabilities of governments, ILO's social partners, and other stakeholders to formulate and implement strategies that foster peace, crisis prevention, recovery, and resilience. The JPR Training Programme aligns its efforts with Goals 8 and 16 of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. Prior to his current role, Joel held various positions in Dutch development agencies and international organizations, focusing on economic development, inclusive business, and market systems development across Central and South America, with a strong emphasis on pro-poor value chain development, rural economy, agricultural value chains, tourism, and renewable energy. His extensive experience encompasses project implementation and providing technical guidance to both public and private entities at local, meso, and national levels. Joel holds a Master's degree in Environmental Impact Assessment from the University of Aberystwyth, a Postgraduate Diploma in Development and Management, and a degree in Chemical Engineering.
