Joe Way, PhD, CTS

Joe Way is the Executive Director of Digital Spaces at UCLA, a position he has held since September 2023.1 He is also the Chair of the Board of Directors and Editor-in-Chief of Higher Ed AV for the Higher Education Technology Managers Alliance (HETMA), a nonprofit organization he co-founded in 2019.1

Background and Experience

• Holds a PhD and is a Certified Technology Specialist (CTS)1
• Has over 25 years of experience as an independent consultant and former business owner in the technology, education, and entertainment industries1
• Previously served as Director of Learning Environments at the University of Southern California from 2019 to 20231
• Worked as Director of Multimedia Services at California Baptist University from 2016 to 20191
• Owned Promenade Studios, a staff and business development company, from 2002 to 20111
