Joe Ma

Joe Ma is an accomplished urban planner with over 30 years of diverse experience in the public and private sectors across the UK, Hong Kong, China, and other Asian cities.

Currently serving as the Deputy General Manager at Shenzhen Bus Group, he oversees international development, procurement, marketing, operations, training, media, and advertisement.

Under Joe Ma's leadership, Shenzhen Bus Group achieved a significant milestone by procuring and deploying a large fleet of electric buses and taxis, establishing itself as the world's largest electric public vehicle operator.

Recognized for his contributions, Joe Ma was honored with the 'Outstanding Achievement' Award at the UITP 2019 Stockholm Global Summit and named one of the 21 heroes of transportation by TUMI.

With a background in urban design and regeneration, Joe Ma holds a MA in Urban Design from The University of Manchester and a BA (Hons) in Town and Country Planning from Newcastle University.

Throughout his career, Joe Ma has held key roles in reputable organizations such as The Kowloon Motor Bus Company, Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited, and TMA Planning and Design Limited.

His extensive expertise spans strategic planning, policy development, housing and urban regeneration, transport infrastructure, and tourism planning.

Joe Ma is a prominent figure in the international public transportation arena, representing Shenzhen Bus Group at global events, chairing committees, and speaking at conferences worldwide.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, he contributed significantly by sharing insights on combating the virus and restoring economic activities through articles, online sessions, and collaborations with prestigious institutions and organizations.
