Joan Haggarty is a seasoned professional with over 24 years of software development experience, specializing in UX design and research as well as product strategy and management.

She excels in applying enterprise design thinking to complex problems, shaping strategies through design research, and ensuring exceptional client experiences.

Joan is driven by challenging problems and thrives in collaborative, creative, and curious environments, advocating for research-driven design and product strategies.

In addition to her professional endeavors, Joan is deeply involved in STEM activities, particularly in empowering teenage girls in STEM subjects by founding and growing a successful STEM4Girls Teen Tech club.

Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Computer Science (Honours) from McMaster University and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Computer Science - Human Factors from the University of Guelph.

Currently, Joan holds the position of Design Principal - Cognitive Applications (Supply Chain) at IBM, with an extensive history of roles at IBM Canada such as Senior Solutions Designer, Senior Designer - UX / Research, and Practice Manager for IBM Software Services for WebSphere.
