Jessica Fan

Jessica Fan is a Senior Software Engineer at Google, currently working on the Google Maps team since April 2023. In her role, she leads quality and evaluation tooling for large-scale optimization of aerial imagery, specifically focusing on 6DoF (six degrees of freedom) pose adjustments. Her work involves developing solutions that are crucial for map building, 3D reconstruction, and enhancing semantic understanding of maps. Notably, she has also led efforts in data collection and training for machine learning models that detect features in aerial imagery, as well as overseeing a significant migration of a posing pipeline to a new image-serving API.1

Prior to her current position, Jessica worked as a Software Engineer at Google from July 2019 to March 2023, where she contributed to the development of evaluation frameworks and tools for aerial pose, earning recognition for her impactful code health improvements. Her earlier experience includes a role as a Robotics Software Engineer at Kindred.ai, where she developed control systems for robotics applications.1

Jessica holds a degree from Dartmouth College, where she was recognized for her academic achievements, including an Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Award and high honors for her thesis work.1 She is based in San Francisco, California, and has a strong background in computer science and software engineering.
