Jens-Michael Schaal is the Vice President - Global Expansion at Invest Ottawa, leading the Global Expansion team in driving foreign direct investment, trade, business retention, and expansion services for scale-up companies in Canada's Capital Region.
With 18 years of professional experience across private, public, and non-profit sectors, Jens-Michael is a proven leader adept at economic development, international business development, project management, and program development.
He excels in communication, collaborating with diverse stakeholders including governments, industry partners, and NGOs, both nationally and internationally.
Jens-Michael's expertise includes economic development, international trade, Foreign Direct Investment attraction, government relations, program and project management, public policy, and administration. He is fluent in English, French, and German.
His educational background includes a Master of Public Administration in Public Administration from Queen's University and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and History from Concordia University.
Throughout his career, Jens-Michael has held various roles such as Consul and Senior Economic Officer, USA at the Government of Ontario; Regional Manager at Colleges and Institutes Canada; and Program Enhancement and Quality Assurance Manager at Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC), among others.
