    Dr. Jelena Rnjak-Kovacina is a Senior Lecturer and Heart Foundation Future Leader Fellow at UNSW Sydney. Her expertise lies at the intersection of biology and engineering, specializing in biomaterials for cardiovascular disease treatment. She completed her Ph.D. in Biomedical/Medical Engineering at the University of Sydney, where she also earned a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology and Genetics. Dr. Rnjak-Kovacina conducted her postdoctoral research at Tufts University under David Kaplan, following her doctoral studies in Anthony Weiss' lab at the University of Sydney. Her exceptional contributions to the field have earned her several accolades, including the NSW Early Career Researcher of the Year award in the 2020 NSW Premier's Prizes for Science & Engineering.
