    Jef Grainger is an accomplished professional with a strong background in the field of plant molecular biology.

    He pursued his education at esteemed institutions, obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Plant Molecular Biology from the University of Cambridge and a BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences (specializing in Plant Science) from The University of Edinburgh.

    With a wealth of experience in various strategic roles, Jef Grainger has held key positions at UKRI-BBSRC, including his current role as Associate Director - Science Strategy.

    His previous roles at BBSRC include Associate Director - Science Strategy, Head of Strategy for Bioscience in Health, Strategy and Policy Manager for Agriculture, Food, and Environment, Senior Programme Manager for Engineering, Data, and Technologies, and Strategic Reviews Manager.

    Prior to his positions at BBSRC, Jef Grainger worked as a Project Scientist in the Department of Disease and Stress Biology at John Innes Centre and as a Research Assistant in the Laboratory of Lymphocyte Signalling at Babraham Institute.
