Jason Terrell is an experienced nonprofit executive and philanthropic leader who has recently been appointed as the President of the R. Howard Dobbs, Jr. Foundation, starting September 9, 2024.13 Prior to this appointment, he served as a Program Officer at the Walton Family Foundation, where he led $22 million in grant investments for place-based initiatives and developed a workforce development strategy for the Foundation's educational grantmaking.1
Background and Career
Jason was born and raised in southwest Atlanta.2 His career in education began as an 8th-grade English teacher in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools through Teach for America.1 In 2014, he co-founded Profound Gentlemen, a national nonprofit dedicated to increasing the representation of male educators of color, serving as its Executive Director until 2021.1
