Jason Cordeira
Precipitation Science and Prediction Lead
Jason Cordeira, an Associate Professor of Meteorology at Plymouth State University, is a distinguished figure in the field of hydrometeorology. His research program at PSU focuses on analyzing, forecasting, and visualizing hydrometeorology processes, particularly concerning U.S. West Coast water resources management, precipitation patterns, and flooding. He collaborates closely with the Center for Western Weather and Water Extremes at the UCSD Scripps Institution of Oceanography, contributing significantly to projects like Forecast Informed Reservoir Operations and the California Atmospheric Rivers Program. Jason also plays a crucial role in educating the next generation of meteorologists through teaching undergraduate and graduate programs at PSU, emphasizing tropical meteorology, mesoscale meteorology, numerical weather prediction, and computer applications in meteorology. Additionally, his dedication to mentoring early-career scientists is evident through his support for their involvement in funded research projects and programs like the NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates.
