James Shoetan

James Shoetan is a dedicated individual with a passion for sustainably improving living standards, utilizing his expertise in energy, strategy, and business development. Currently based in Nairobi, he is focused on establishing Africa's leading utility behind the meter, specializing in developing, financing, owning, and operating hybrid power assets to provide cleaner, more reliable, and cost-effective energy solutions to the continent's largest enterprises. With a proven track record of successful project implementation, James has excelled in various areas such as go-to-market strategies, business operations, safety evaluations, growth strategies, capital reallocation, and third-party due diligence. He holds an MBA from The Wharton School and a B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Psychology from Duke University.

James Shoetan's educational background includes a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in General Management from The Wharton School, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Psychology from Duke University.

Professionally, James has held various roles demonstrating his expertise and leadership. He has served as the Chief Commercial Officer, Associate Principal, and Senior Associate at CrossBoundary Energy, showcasing his strategic acumen and business development skills. Prior to his time at CrossBoundary, James also gained valuable experience as a Consultant at The Boston Consulting Group and as a Summer Consultant at L.E.K. Consulting. Additionally, he has a background in nuclear engineering, having worked as a Reverse Loanee and Associate Evaluator at the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations. Moreover, James has prior experience working as a College Rep at Electronic Arts and as a Courier at Duke University Chronicle.
