James Perry

James Perry is a seasoned mining executive with vast management experience across Australasia, Africa & the Americas.

Currently, he holds the position of Vice President of Business Development & Strategy at Sweetwater Royalties, a company under Orion Mine Finance, focusing on expanding base metal, industrial mineral, and renewable energy royalties in stable mining regions.

His background as a lawyer equips him with the skill to identify and manage risks across all project stages, complementing his expertise in managing complex international transactions and navigating exploration, project evaluation, mining operations, corporate governance, ESG, government, community stakeholders, and negotiations in challenging jurisdictions.

Perry possesses an MSc in History and International Relations from the London School of Economics, a Bachelor of Laws/International Relations from Bond University, and proficiency in French from Sorbonne University.

His professional journey includes roles such as Business Development Manager and Corporate Counsel at Newcrest Mining, Legal Consultant at Newedge, Associate Director at DaMina Advisors LLP, Solicitor at Victorian Government Solicitor's Office, Legal Intern at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda under the United Nations, Judge's Associate to Hon.
