Ish Aderonmu, a national magazine award-winning storyteller and human rights activist, is a respected legal practitioner with a diverse background. With over 10 years of experience as a legal systems navigator, project officer, board member, and entrepreneur in tech startups, he brings a wealth of skills and expertise to any role. His work has been featured in prestigious publications like the Toronto Star, Toronto Life Magazine, Maclean’s, and the CBC.
As a Black man with a visible disability and an immigrant from Nigeria, Ish has faced challenges including poverty, discrimination, and injustice. His personal experiences with the legal and immigration systems, as well as incarceration, have fueled his activism in helping marginalized communities access justice.
Ish embodies the Mi'kmaw concept of Etuaptmumk, or two-eyed seeing, allowing him to navigate different worlds effortlessly. He has experience working with influential stakeholders in politics and business, as well as supporting community members in need. As a former board member of the John Howard Society, Ish has helped formerly incarcerated individuals rebuild their lives.
Known for his personal integrity, ethics, and tireless advocacy for marginalized groups, Ish is praised by colleagues for his deep listening, careful consultation, and collaborative approach towards pursuing justice. With a background in Juris Doctor, Law from Lincoln Alexander School of Law, and International Business Administration from West Chester University, among other qualifications, Ish is well-equipped to make a positive impact in various sectors.
