Irina Dezhina

Irina Dezhina is a prominent Russian science theorist and expert in science and technology policy. She currently serves as the Head of the Research Group on Science and Industrial Policy at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech).14
Dr. Dezhina holds a D.Sc. degree in economics, which she obtained in 2007 from the Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of World Economy and International Relations (RAS IMEMO).1 Her academic background includes being a Fulbright Scholar in 1997 and a Galina Starovoytova Award scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Studies in 2013.1
Throughout her career, Dezhina has held various prestigious positions:
- Chief expert-analyst at the Russian Fund for Technological Development (2011-2014)3
- Professor at the National Research University - Higher School of Economics (2008-present)2
- Leading Researcher at the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy2
Dr. Dezhina has extensive experience in international collaborations, having worked with organizations such as SRI International (USA), the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and OECD.1 She is also recognized as an expert by the Russian Academy of Sciences and is a member of an expert panel in science policy studies at the Russian Foundation for Basic Research.1
In recognition of her contributions to the field, Dezhina was awarded the Ordre des Palmes Académiques (Order of Academic Palms) by the French Prime Minister in June 2016.2
