Irene Bruines

Irene Bruines is the founder of the website www.smartcityplaza.nl where she works with a team of experts to assist governments and businesses in achieving their sustainability and climate objectives. SmartCityPlaza focuses on ensuring public spaces are designed as smart, sustainable, and safe environments.

With a background in advising various governmental bodies such as municipalities, provinces, and RWS, Irene offers consultancy services on infrastructure, mobility, public spaces, and sustainable smart city initiatives. She aims to help organizations reach their sustainability goals while maintaining safety, independence, transparency, and a positive impact on the climate and quality of life for citizens.

Drawing on her expertise and experience in collaboration with different departments like Design & Engineering, Procurement, Strategy, and Management & Maintenance, Irene provides tailored advice to bring relevant information to organizations for the most sustainable and intelligent project implementations.

Graduating in Law from Katholieke Universiteit Nijmegen, Irene Bruines currently serves as the Strategic Advisor for Sustainability & Smart City Development at Smart City Plaza and has held key roles in organizations like Lievense Adviseurs Ingenieurs, Intemo, StaticAir, Ziut, BAM Infratechniek, and Royal Haskoning in the past.
