Ian Hunter is an ex British Army Officer with a rich background in conflict environments, boasting over 30 years of experience.

With a notable tenure at the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO), Ian served as a Security Officer providing crucial security advice in ADDIS ABABA.

His expertise expanded to GEORGIA, where he fulfilled the role of a security officer with the UN Observer Mission, offering security advice and training to all UN Staff.

Ian dedicated approximately 3 years as a Field Security Adviser with the UNHCR in the challenging context of KANDAHAR, AFGHANISTAN.

Currently, Ian operates as a Field Security Adviser in the Northwest Frontier Province of PAKISTAN, stationed in PESHAWAR, continuing his service with the UNHCR.

His broad range of responsibilities includes conducting Security Threat and Risk Assessments, overseeing security assessment missions, devising Security Plans, delivering Security Training and Advisories, engaging in security networking and liaison with other UN bodies, collaborating with Government interlocutors and the NGO community, preparing reports and assessments on the prevailing security environment, and participating in security-related courses sponsored by the UN.

Ian Hunter pursued a Masters in Military studies at the Military Staff College, enhancing his knowledge and skills in the military domain.
