Hugh Courtney is a seasoned finance professional with vast experience in leading the finance function, strategic finance, financial reporting, and M&A teams at Zilch.

During his tenure at Zilch, Hugh has overseen significant growth, scaling the finance team from 4 to over 300 employees across multiple jurisdictions.

Apart from his financial leadership role, Hugh has been instrumental in establishing the Compliance and Credit functions at Zilch, obtaining FCA authorization for Consumer Credit.

Hugh's expertise in underwriting sub and near-prime customers to sustainable performance levels using innovative data-led scoring models has been pivotal in the company's success.

With a track record of raising over $450 million in equity and debt capital, Hugh has played a key role in supporting Zilch's founders in various investor interactions and securing a Tier 1 debt financing partner.

Before his time at Zilch, Hugh co-founded specialty lending businesses, engaged in capital raising for small and mid-cap listed companies, and was involved in primary debt capital markets origination in investment banking.

Hugh's educational background includes an MBA from the University of Oxford, as well as CA(SA) and ACA designations.

His diverse educational profile ranges from studying financial modeling masterclasses to specialized courses in chartered accountancy, financial strategy, and technical evaluation of mineral projects.

Currently serving as the CFO at Zilch, Hugh Courtney continues to leverage his expertise and extensive experience in the finance industry.
