Chief Architect at Alibaba Cloud with a background in venture funding and engineering leadership
Dr. Hong Tang serves as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Architect at Alibaba Cloud International. He began his career at Alibaba Cloud in 2010, where he played a crucial role in developing the Apsara core engineering team, which is responsible for the cloud operating system and infrastructure software of Alibaba Cloud. After a three-year hiatus during the pandemic, he returned to the company in 2023.1
Before his tenure at Alibaba, Dr. Tang held significant positions in other tech companies. He was the Engineering Director at Ask.com, overseeing the search infrastructure, and later worked at Yahoo as a Senior Principal Engineer, focusing on Hadoop research and development. Dr. Tang holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Zhejiang University and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara.12
