Heather Loyd is a seasoned ethnographer with 18 years of experience in person-centered research. She specializes in shaping services and products by understanding people, context, and user experience. Her work revolves around creatively and thoroughly answering questions concerning people's habits, goals, motivations, and frustrations. Heather has studied both a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Linguistic Anthropology and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Throughout her career, Heather has used a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research methods, including participant observation, remote ethnography, home ethnography, interviews & focus groups, video & photo diaries, survey design & analysis, contextual inquiries, market segmentation, linguistic analysis, scan-sampling, and videography & photography of everyday activities. She has held different positions, including Senior Analyst at KR&I, Lecturer at UCLA, Cultural Anthropologist at NBCUniversal Media, LLC, Anthropologist/Senior Research Analyst at Troika, Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Kansas State University, Postdoctoral Fellow at UCLA, Alfred P.
