    Gene Ammarell

    Associate Professor Emeritus, Anthropology, Ohio University

    Gene Ammarell is a renowned cultural anthropologist with expertise in various specializations including ethnography, cognitive anthropology, political ecology, social change and development.

    His research focuses on Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia, with a specific interest in Bugis culture and society.

    Gene Ammarell has held various academic positions, including Adjunct Professor of Anthropology at Salt Lake Community College, Visiting Professor of Anthropology at Hasanuddin University, and Director of the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at Ohio University.

    He has also served as Associate Professor of Anthropology at Ohio University and as an Editor for 'Antara Kita' eNewsletter at the Indonesia and East Timor Studies Committee within the Association for Asian Studies.

    His academic experience includes roles as Associate Professor Emeritus at Ohio University, Visiting Professor of Anthropology at Marlboro College, Lecturer in Anthropology at Yale University, and Education Director at Fiske Planetarium, University of Colorado.
