Gyna M. Bivens

Gyna M. Bivens serves as the Mayor Pro Tem of Fort Worth, Texas, and has been a member of the District 5 City Council since 2013. Her tenure is marked by a strong advocacy for neighborhood revitalization, economic development, and senior citizens' issues. Notably, she played a significant role in securing a $35 million grant through the Choice Neighborhood Initiative for Fort Worth.1

In addition to her role in local government, Bivens is the President and Executive Director of North Texas LEAD, an organization aimed at connecting college-educated professionals with employers. This organization was founded by a group of local CEOs and former Mayor Kenneth Barr in 2006.12

Bivens has extensive experience in municipal governance and public service. She has been actively involved with the Texas Municipal League and the National League of Cities, where she has held various leadership positions, including Vice Chair and Chair of the Community Economic Development Committee. Her professional background includes work as a news reporter and public information manager, showcasing her expertise in communication and community engagement.1
